Following the Shepherd
Looking back, it's clear God was writing a much bigger story than we could see at the time.
It was 2002. We launched Family to Family, Inc. Our desire was to come alongside other families, helping them faithfully live out God's Word in every area of life. We thought we knew where that journey would lead. But God took us down a different path.
The Road That Shaped Us
Over the next 25 years, God continued writing a story we never could have imagined.
For more than eighteen of those years, Dan had the privilege of serving as a leader and executive of two global ministries, equipping leaders around the world while raising our family of nine.
This was a season God was preparing us. Not simply through the opportunities He gave us… but through the character He was developing within us.
It wasn't always easy. There were seasons of uncertainty. Financial pressure. Disappointment. Questions without answers. More times than I can count, I "quit" in my mind. Usually during the hardest seasons.
Looking back now, we can clearly see that those years were preparing us to launch FeedSheep.org.
Our family — the heart of everything God has called us to.
"Feed Sheep. Don't Chase Goats."
While serving as President of Compass North America, I often sensed the Lord impressing the same simple words on my heart: "Feed sheep. Don't chase goats."
At first, I thought those words were simply for the role I was in. As time passed, it became evident it was again God preparing me for the next season. FeedSheep wasn't born in a planning meeting. It was formed over decades of following the Good Shepherd.
Jesus told Peter, "Feed my sheep." That calling has become our own.
FeedSheep isn't about building an audience. It's about feeding the sheep God entrusts to our care. Starting at home.
FeedSheep Begins
In 2022, FeedSheep launched—the fulfillment of a calling God first placed on our hearts twenty years earlier.
Over those years, the vision became clearer, the mission became sharper, and the journey became a testimony of God's faithfulness.
Today, FeedSheep exists to help committed followers of Jesus live faithfully and influence intentionally.
We believe God's Word wasn't meant to simply fill our minds.
It was meant to shape our lives.
That's why we create biblical teaching, practical tools, and communities that help people learn, apply, multiply, and become authentic followers of Jesus Christ.
No hype.
No shallow inspiration.
Just biblical truth.
Practical tools.
A community walking the journey together.
Still Following
We're still following the Shepherd.
We haven't arrived. We're still learning.
Still growing. Still depending on the Holy Spirit every day.
Looking back, we can now see God's faithfulness through every season.
The victories. The disappointments.
The waiting. The unexpected turns.
Every one of them became part of His preparation.
Then, during one of the hardest seasons of our journey, I sensed the Lord say:
"I didn't call you to teach these principles. I called you to live them, then testify out of your obedience to them."
That changed everything.
Looking back, we now understand. FeedSheep isn't built on principles we've studied. It's built on principles God has patiently taught us to live.
If our story encourages you in any way, we hope it's this: God's path may look different than the one you planned. But His path is always worth following.
